Rascal Does Not Dream of Logical Witch (青春ブタ野郎はロジカルウィッチの夢を見ない, Seishun Buta Yarō wa Rojikaru Witchi no Yume o Minai) is the third volume of the Seishun Buta Yarou light novel series.
Synopsis[]
Just before summer vacation begins, Sakuta encounters Shoko Makinohara, a junior high school girl with the same name and face as his first love. But Shoko should be in college by now. That's confusing...and as if that wasn't bad enough, another strange Adolescence Syndrome phenomenon seems to be occurring...
Story Notes[]
- Sakuta's first encounter with Shoko Makinohara is revisited.
- The present-time Shoko begins regularly visiting Sakuta's apartment to check on her adopted cat. Sakuta decides to consult Rio Futaba.
- Sakuta serves Mai during his shift at work on that same day. They go home together, but on the way they spot Rio walking into an internet café.
- After successfully pursuing Rio, Sakuta and Mai find out that there's another Rio around, that Rio having returned home and rendering the first Rio homeless.
- Sakuta gets permission to accommodate the Rio they found, on the condition that he accommodates Mai as well.
- After talking with the Rio he found, Sakuta makes it a duty to visit both Rio's whenever he can, the initial Rio continuing to attend her club during holiday time.
- Mai gets a call from her new agent, who learns that Mai has a boyfriend.
- Before Sakuta returns home on the first day he sees the initial Rio, Saki Kamisato alerts him to a profile of Rio that she found online. Sakuta also gets some insight from reporter Fumika Nanjou, who came to visit during his shift at work.
- Over a week later, the initial Rio receives a text message from a stranger, who recognizes Rio's school uniform and threatens to tell her school. That Rio, disturbed by the advance, tells Sakuta to delete her online profile.
- Sakuta walks the initial Rio back to her own home, then spends the night with her. Sakuta calls Yuuma over and they pull an all-nighter at the beach. After Yuuma leaves, Rio voices concern for the other Rio that Sakuta had been accommodating.
- The next day, the accommodated Rio escapes from Sakuta's home while the latter sleeps for the day. Upon waking up, Sakuta tracks that Rio down at her first-year classroom. That Rio soon witnesses Sakuta collapse from exhaustion due to the poor weather conditions outside.
- Sakuta wakes up in hospital where Mai had also paid a visit. After being discharged, Sakuta encounters Shoko at the hospital and learns about her heart condition.
- Sakuta then talks with the Rio that witnessed Sakuta's collapse. Having been convinced to join Sakuta and Yuuma at the upcoming fireworks show. Rio calls her own home to voice her eagerness to attend. She ultimately merges with her other self at home who had answered the call.
- Rio watches the fireworks on the day of the show, alongside Yuuma and Sakuta. Rio whispers something to Yuuma and asks Yuuma not to reply.
