Synopsis[]
After a grueling December, Sakuta is quickly approaching the end of his second year of high school. Since Mai is in third grade, they don't have much time together before graduation.
Meanwhile, his younger sister Kaede slowly but surely ventures back into the outdoors. Just as he begins to find his footing, she announces her most ambitious goal yet: attending her older brother's high school!
Sakuta knows better than anyone how difficult it will be for Kaede, and he is willing to support her in any way he can. But he's not sure if that's what's best for her... or what he really wants...
Summary[]
Sakuta has a dream in which he meets young Mai for the first time. He wakes up during his English class, and after school, he and Mai head home together, reminiscing about their past adventures. When they’re almost home, they run into Kaede, who’s just finished her own classes, and Mai leaves to take Ryoko to a filming session.
At home, Kaede has to decide what she wants to do in the future, but she’s still uncertain. The next day, Mai has lunch at school with Sakuta and checks her university entrance exam results online. She passes, but decides to take a gap year so she can enroll together with Sakuta.
That evening, Mai and Nodoka visit Sakuta’s house, and Kaede announces that she wants to apply to Minegahara High. Sakuta promises to help her with that.
Sakuta and Tomoe attend an online school orientation seminar for Kaede, where Sakuta notices a familiar face in one of the videos.
The day to submit the application arrives, and Kaede brings her documents to the school, but her anxiety caused some of her bruises to return, shown on her wrist. Before the entrance exams, she studies hard while everyone else supports her.
On the day of the exam, everything goes well at first, but then Kaede suddenly feels unwell. Sakuta rushes to the school. Kaede blames herself for failing and says that the “previous Kaede” was better than her. Sakuta also learns the real reason Kaede wants to attend Minegahara. He decides to help her.
They go to a concert by Sweet Bullet, since one of the members, Uzuki, might be able to help. After the concert, Uzuki tells Kaede that every version of herself is good - what matters is to keep moving forward.
Later, Kotomi visits Kaede and tells her that she’s studying at an online school.
Once again, Sakuta sees a strange vision of young Mai.
